Stepping into the Stream of Depth Practice Programs

Sukhasiddhi Foundation has been offering practice multi-year programs since 2001 as a means to support practitioners in developing and deepening their meditation practice while moving through a coinciding curriculum of Buddhist teachings in general as well as teachings of the Shangpa and Dakpo Kagyu lineages.

At the heart of Sukhasiddhi Foundation’s many offerings is the series of Depth Practice Programs, which provide more than 10 years of sequential study and practice following a Vajrayana Buddhist path. The first of these progressive programs is the Dharma Training Program, designed to offer participants a strong, experiential foundation in the essential teachings of the Buddha from a Vajrayana perspective.

In 2025, a new two-year cycle of the Dharma Training Program began with an in-depth exploration of the Four Noble Truths. This program offers a unique opportunity to explore the profound wisdom of Vajrayana Tibetan Buddhism in a supportive and inclusive environment. Designed for modern-day life, this program, which takes place both in-person and online, integrates timeless spiritual principles with practical application, helping participants weave meditation, mindfulness, and heartful presence into all aspects of their daily lives. Through guided teachings, experiential practices, and personalized support, students develop a consistent meditation practice while gaining insight into how these ancient teachings can bring clarity, compassion, and resilience to present-day challenges.

Rooted in both tradition and relevance for modern practitioners, the Dharma Training Program emphasizes personal experience through meditation, study, and practice within a supportive learning environment. This foundational program serves as both a gateway for those new to Buddhist practice and a deepening opportunity for more experienced practitioners seeking a structured approach to spiritual growth. Each step builds toward a comprehensive understanding of Vajrayana principles while fostering genuine transformation through direct engagement with the teachings. If you are new to practice, have practice experience in another tradition, or if you would like to further deepen your current practice, now is a great opportunity to embark on a transformative spiritual journey. With its emphasis on direct experience, personal growth, and spiritual integration, this program welcomes anyone ready to engage sincerely with the teachings. Join us to cultivate greater awareness, compassion, and inner stability—practicing from wherever you are, at a pace that supports your unique spiritual journey. Additional Depth Practice Programs

The Bodhi Program

The Bodhi Program is a three-year immersion into the Mahayana teachings, philosophy, and the Bodhisattva Path. Students explore and integrate the teachings and practices of the bodhisattva path, as well as the philosophical foundations of Mahayana Buddhism. The program is structured in three-month modules with a one-year commitment. With this bodhicitta-infused foundation and a firmly established daily practice, students can continue on either the Vajrayana Track or the Mahamudra Track, with flexibility to move between them.

The Vajrayana Program

For those continuing on the Vajrayana Track, the Vajrayana Program offers an in-depth study of Vajrayana practices, designed to cultivate recognition of the sacred in all aspects of life. Students undertake the Shangpa Kagyu ngöndro alongside a rich curriculum of Vajrayana practices such as Medicine Buddha, Amitabha, White Tara, and Four Tantric Deities. This program also includes in-depth study and contemplation of Mahayana philosophy and Vajrayana theory and view.

The Shangpa Program

For eligible students, the Vajrayana Program is followed by the Shangpa Program, an advanced Vajrayana study initiated by Lama Palden in 2001. This rare program presents the primary practices and teachings of the Shangpa Kagyu lineage, typically only taught within a traditional three-year retreat. Students deepen their understanding of Vajrayana theory and Buddhist philosophy while engaging in these profound practices.

The Mahamudra Program

The Mahamudra Program guides students through the progressive stages of Shamatha and Vipashyana, leading into Mahamudra practice. With individualized guidance, students refine their meditation skills while studying the philosophical teachings that support this advanced practice.

This study continues in the Advanced Mahamudra Program, where students receive step-by-step instruction to deepen and further embody Mahamudra practice, alongside continued exploration of key Mahamudra texts and philosophical studies.

Vajra Sangha

Upon completing either the Vajrayana or Mahamudra Track, students may be invited into the Vajra Sangha, a dedicated group of practitioners receiving one-on-one instruction from Sukhasiddhi Foundation Lamas. The Vajra Sangha plays an integral role in supporting the larger sangha community, embodying a deep commitment to the Mahayana and Vajrayana paths while helping co-create the vajra mandala of Sukhasiddhi Sangha.
